Kitale...Book Value to me is part of the whole exercise ..a bit like when you're driving a car it pays to regularly check where you are going?...enough petrol in your tank? ...and engine not overheating? ... etc ..but wise to use your rear view mirror!!! Book Value is to me the rear view mirror...it won't tell you where your going but if you have to change lanes..(sell or buy shares) or slow down...(not to happy with the changing bigger picture of the market) it's very important just to check your analysis and not to react through fear or greed.Price and Value are my criteria.
Solid Book Value helps my confidence level...I make sure I check all the other areas of my research analysis if my share price is moving up above three times book value.
Of course some people may laugh at my analogy with a car...others may find it useful. All the Best to All
