There is no scenario where they halt production, the costs associated with doing so would far outweigh the cost to complete. Every contract would have a termination clause, if you add up penalties for termination, redundancies, demobilisation & eventual remobilisation of equipment and workforce, not to mention the fact you stuff up your pond chemistry and have to start the evap process from scratch losing another 9-12months in the process....
It's not a switch you turn and stem cash burn.
Not to mention burning of many bridges along the way including instos who backed this to be built.
Issue a high cost convertible if they must (much quicker process vs commercial debt or offtake) or continue to equity fund to buy time, those are the viable options as unsavoury as they may be.
