who cares? ---------- well, I don't - I consider it unimportant. But others do - particularly if they think they're 'god's creation'
I'd like to see consciousness, sentience, intellect, knowledge acquisition etc go on -
I don't have a strong argument for why though.
But, when - if it comes, that machines are the only mechanism with those kinds of characteristics -------- I see that it may not happen, because there are a few problems that I don't see how we can get around yet ---------- things like - that humans and other creatures have learned things - because they had to and most of them had to move around to exist
and in doing that - we combined with curiosity. I don't see why machines would have needs like humans - if we sit still we get hungry and our survival instinct drives us out to gather food to eat etc.
I also don't see how a machine can, at this stage - be curious. And I also, at this stage can't see how AI will do things that humans do - just because ---------- like, when we put on wire on another wire - almost without thinking - for some odd reason - to see what happens
and of course mostly we get puffs of smoke and 'oh dear' - but, sometimes we discover things
I have a suspicion that if we build machines and then, they build themselves - that if left alone - they might just sit there and merely maintain themselves waiting for some kind of input from a playful or curious entity to press a key
I think of it this way ----------- if we build a self drive car ------- although it's pretty smart ------------- it's not going to just go for a drive itself - because it wants a day out
