Its the tactics and uneven playing field that is the issue with shorting.

Shorters are allowed to make domesday allegations for stocks without reprisal. You see domesday posts as nauseum on many threads.
BRN are resticted in what they can say in announcements. Shorters have no restictions. You can make financial ruin predictions as much as you like because its difficult to prove you are wrong at the time you make those statements. If the stock eventually thrives past shorting events are quickly forgotten.
Big shorting groups or funds use the media and forums to spread their story.
Shorting is legal but the playing field is uneven.
