yes it does look like this is about the nano material used in the bio chip and AXE's assertion that their carbon nanotubes are not generic 'graphene' . Well this is a materials company and we have to be aware there are many of these newly minted materials that need precise characterisation to be deemed unique and requiring patent protection. The said material can be used in on-going R&D work but without patent protection. AXE can make the strategic decision to go ahead with development no matter this back and forth and ultimate outcome. Which is probably what is happening. Patent prosecution is another juggling act this company has to pull off alongside product R&D.

(The qubit material used in the 12CQ has been variously called carbon nanospheres, nano onions...Martin uses these terms interchangeably. )

The bio chip technology's main component is of course the graphene Field Effect Transistor or gFET. But the 'graphene' needs to be characterised better in terms of chemical structure and properties such that when a skilled person attempts to manufacture it, it results in the same reproducible material consistently. AXE is currently trying to standardise the exact composition of carbon nanomaterial in at least 3 European labs. Getting repeatable reproducible results in labs is a major technical requirement for reliable chips. In some ways, working across different labs in this supply chain is a bigger challenge than the 12CQ development work.
