what I think you'll find is in the right wing parties where you DO get smart people
they probably have a troubled childhood AND they are harvesting the dummies in society for their own political ends
where in the left you get smart people - there's a mix - the ones who care - are genuine and good hearted - but, like in everything - there will be some that are smart enough to be on a popular bandwagon for the goodies for themselves
humans are an atrocious animal - we need good systems to protect ourselves from ourselves
