1. S. Mc Culloch, CEO of the Australian Energy Producers organisation, said, at an AEP Conference on 24.5.24, there is increasing technical & economic confidence in:-
. the efficacy of Carbon Capture & Storage technologies
. Australia has many sites that are particularly useful for CCS
. & that many Asian countries are very keen to utilise these sites for the CO2 emissions they produce

The Fed. ALP govt has stated it is very supportive of further investigation into the economic efficiency & permanent storage capabilities of CCS.
If CCS technology becomes proven, then it will offer an huge economic trade boost for Australia ie to sell these CO2 storage provisions to Asian countries (& for Australia itself, of course).
Furthermore, successful CCS will prolong the use of gas power. And prolongs thermal coal for power, & met coal for steel making- this will, eventually, greatly benefit WHC.
2. The EU elections last weekend saw, generally, increasing support for conservative parties- who have strengthened their control of the 720-seat EU Parliament.
The EU "ruling" Centre-Right, led by Ursula von der Layen, increased its seats.
The Greens, however, suffered the biggest % fall in seats of any party in the EU elections ie from 72 to 52 seats. Germany, France, & Italy produced some of the worst results for the Greens (& other leftist parties).
European elections: Dramatic night across EU capped by Macron bombshell (bbc.com)
The EU Centre-Right "ruling" coalition is almost certain to continue to support decarbonisation. Will its introduction, however, be slowed?
Many expert commentators ascribe the election falls for the Greens to the rising cost of energy for the public; & many say the increasing use of renewables has been a major contributing factor. (Another major factor has been the growing opposition to illegal immigration in Europe, & rising crime rates).
The (green/ & liberal) Centre For European Reform 11.6.24 link below outlines the challenges (but not total rejection) that are expected to emerge now, to the EU's current decarbonisation policies
