"The average price of a house has gone up about 30-40K thanks to a new Building Construction Code". ..according to th claims made by the construction industry, its because of the huge increase in the cost of materials post-covid, and the cost of transport.
what state are you in? the 1 yr old Lab govt in NSW has repaired the manifest problems associated with the LibNats removing both the building code and the privatisation of the building inspectorate. this resulted in several apartment buildings being shut and classed as "at risk". as well many housing developments also being found to have numerous construction flaws. enough to have some houses assessed as needing a total rebuild.
I don't have a problem criticising any Lab govt, but lets face it the right here do a tremendous job or criticising the Labs here, often without cause and using lies instead of facts.
as for supply and demand, the supply for housing construction has dropped alarmingly. this in itself forces up the price of new housing.
demand is very high but housing approvals continue to fall.
