This reactor was subject to global supply chain delays and issues relating to a global pandemic, and probably many other factors also. I don't think looking at just the one reactor is wise. Also, I don't think the US had brought any online for decades prior to this, am I right? So of course the first one in many years will be expensive. I don't think Australia would just do a single one. It'd be more like 10. After the first, you have the skilled labour built up, and past experiences, just like our renewable energy installations. 30 years ago they were much more expensive. But at least we have the technology for safe disposal of nuclear waste, unlike the unsafe disposal of fibrous wind turbine blades, and PV panels many of which are shipped to the great toxic waste land in China.

What we really need, is a quotation for installation from a big multinational reactor constructor, and a financing agreement to protect Australia from cost blow-outs. Not cherry-picked examples of a reactor installation gone wrong.
