Last week Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade)welcomed the delegation of Australian hashtag#critical minerals project proponents to the hashtag#UK,hashtag#Franceandhashtag#Germanyand facilitated opportunities for them to connect with the key industry players across thehashtag#automotive,hashtag#aerospaceandhashtag#defencesectors, as well as finance and hashtag#investor community.

Our Australian project proponents look to form long-term partnerships that will help hashtag#diversifyandhashtag#securea safe, sustainable supply of the critical minerals needed for the globalhashtag#cleanenergytransition andhashtag#digitaltransformation.

Over the week discussions reinforced the increasing sense of urgency from industry but also the need for a multifaceted approach where partner nations, industry and financial bodies work together to:

- implement effectivehashtag#governmentpolicysettingsthat deliver consistent standards, drive the right behaviors, alternative price structures and deliver incentives to the right groups

- build on our unique strengths and sovereign capabilities, facilitating hashtag#innovationand technological development, and ultimately deliverhashtag#industrialstrategiesthat wrap the whole supply chain required to achieve this transformation

- think differently to achieve the mix of hashtag#financerequired to enable the transition, recognising strategic, security, ESG and risk drivers.

Governments are already working to back this,hashtag#AUKCritical Minerals Statement of Intent has been in place for over a year and less than two weeks ago Australia and thehashtag#EUsigned strategic partnership on Sustainable Critical and Strategic Minerals.

The EU’shashtag#CBAMand Critical Raw Material Act (CRMA) set new benchmarks on extraction, processing, recycling and the diversification of critical minerals supply from third countries. And the launch of major new Funds such as the Critical Metals Fund and the EBA Strategic Battery Materials Fund offer support mechanisms required to achieve this.
