Russia[and later China too] wasn't trying to spread their doctrine because they thought it was good, they were spreading Marxism to disrupt the western countries by exploiting the doctrine that it was necessary to break society down before communism could be deployed. It was a weapon to destroy those countries from within and it worked like a charm.
