Tasman bay was a breeding ground for shelfish. Scallops etc. Try finding one today, largely due to the run off from the surrounding pine plantations. Nothing grows under a pine tree, you can make weedkiller from the dead pines. Yet they run into the ocean for decades. The damage done.
