German arms producer Rheinmetall will hand over to Ukraine Frankenstein air defense tanks, with state-of-the-art guns mounted onto their hulls to tackle Russian missiles and drone swarms.A Skyranger anti-aircraft system will be installed onto a Leopard-1 hull to bolster Ukraine’s air defenses.
“There are still many Leopard 1 main battle tanks on whose chassis we could mount the Skyranger turret with the 35 mm caliber automatic cannon,” said Bjorn Bernhard, head of land systems at Rheinmetall.
