Difficult to know who is benefitting from Victoria's land tax.
Yeah it's mildly fascinating to follow the money here.
If the landlord doesn't increase the rent in line with the Land Tax charge, the State Government gains, say, $1,000, the Landlord pays $1,000 in the first instance but obtains a Tax Refund of $370 after deducting the Land Tax from the Rental income.
So its State Gov +$1,000, Landlord -$630 and the Federal Gov -$370.
If the Tax is passed to the tenant, it's simple - State Gov +$1,000 Tenant -$1,000.
