I read on the forum yesterday that Yogi said there had been a rumour regarding a takeover. However I think the buying is more likely to be due to the reservoir estimates due out tomorrow. Also on the issue of a takeover, there is an excellent article on ARC's website that was in the PESA news (see link below), one of the points is that the company "hopes to avoid any more takeover bids until after results of the Hovea program are confirmed and foresees bids early next year." Another interesting quote from the article was "If this area works geologically like we think it will, we'll still be here drilling holes in 20 years time."
