The LOCE of renewables and batteries combined are much lower than nuclear, not to mentioned the price of batteries becoming ever cheaper, unlike nuclear.
Also people place to much weight on the concept of baseload power. A difficult one for people to get their heads around. Base load becomes less relevant with the greater uptake of renewables, there is far less reliance on, as renewables and batteries are a decentralised form of energy production and transfer - hence why for so many decades now there has been so much kickback against it, inconcstancy from the pervasive lobby backed pollies. Its much harder to monopolise.
Batteries can be placed anywhere, in households, in cars, and can all be connected back to the grid. There is greater reliability, less risk with the idea of decentralised forms. Larger arrays can be utilised for individual commercial purposes, or capacitors for regulating even power distribution. Renewables can store in the form of hydro, hydrogen, mechanical, thermal forms. Hydrogen a mobile form which in turn can be commodified and exported.
