I don't know the state of the Russian military. I know that their military ambitions with respect to Ukraine seem to need all the help they can get.
Canada is very far north, and doesn't receive as much solar as we do, so to my mind, they have a completely different situation.
But if you are interested in the Canadian nuclear approach, you might want to look at the sheer amount of subsidies the Ca government has provided to set it up. Then ask the question if it is truly cheaper than setting up renewables in Oz.
CSIRO and other experts say nukes will be about three times more expensive for Australia than a wind+solar+firming system. I can't see how Dutton magically changes that number.
