What it is is a symptom of bad times round the corner.
Consumer discretionary spending is the first thing to suffer when the cost of living exceeds income.
But when people can't meet their mortgage payments or rent, have to cut down on food, get behind with electricity & gas bills, then you have recession and its not a joke anymore.
And it's coming and I don't think we have safe hands on the wheel.
