Simple fact is - in the UK when no-one was interested in the well below intelligence candidates the turnout was around 55 % . assuming we have the same calibre of useless non - entities in Aus - the same number will apply.
Now we take in the preference voting...around 20% actually do not vote for the ones they want, so we have 35% of people voting for who they want - now it is two party race, Someone wins, so maybe 17% v 18% - effectively under this stupid system, some on can declare 'I have a mandate from the people' - with 18% of the vote.......it is such a joke, that's why it is on the humour forum.
