Dear reader They don’t make Labor politicians like Bob Hawke anymore. The former PM wasn’t just famous for how fast he could skol beer … although he did once hold the yard glass world record. He was a proud Aussie who loved this country. And even though he got a lot of things wrong, he was spot on when it came to nuclear power. Hawkie could see as far back as the 1980s that nuclear power was the future for this country. Just a few years before he died, he said it would be “a win for the global environment and a win for Australia”. He knew what Albo doesn’t … you can’t run a modern economy on unreliable renewables that don’t work when the wind doesn’t blow or the sun doesn’t shine. ADVANCE has been campaigning for years to lift the ridiculous ban on nuclear energy. So good on Liberal leader Peter Dutton for coming out so strong in support of nuclear energy this week. “No other country in the world can keep the lights on 24/7 with the renewables-only policy,” he said. Exactly right. Compare that to Labor and the Greens, who want to destroy this nation with wind and solar farms as big as European countries. Last weekend, climate change minister Chris Bowen announced a shocker. He wants a gigantic offshore wind turbine zone off the NSW south coast, stretching from Wollongong to Kiama. While the mainstream media lose their minds over Peter Dutton’s nuclear plan, they’re paying way too little attention to Bowen’s 105 floating wind turbines – each taller than a city skyscraper – his substations, concrete anchors, and hundreds of kilometres of underwater cables. It will be another massive ocean-sized no-go zone for locals and visitors alike. It will crush local tourism, and commercial and recreational fishing. It will put billions of taxpayer dollars straight into the pockets of foreign multinationals, for generations to come. And here’s the kicker. Unlike nuclear power, which has to be built here, none of these floating turbines will be manufactured in Australia. This is what you get with Labor’s 100 per cent renewables policy. Did they tell you about this before the election? Of course not. And Albo just rides roughshod over the families and farmers of Australia who are paying the real price for their Net Zero mania. I reckon Hawkie would be hating this just as much as you and I do. Yours sincerely, Matthew Sheahan Executive Director, ADVANCE P.S. By the way, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with coal and gas! That’s how we built this nation! |
