It is all about the numbers ElleDee,
Perhaps we should start doing full body scans on everybody , along with extensive blood tests, from the age of 5 , just in case?
How often , once a week , once a month?
Perhaps we should do preemptive mastectomies , prostatectomies , colectomies at age 30 on everybody?

    Absurd .
    Of course it is .
You screen enough to make a positive difference overall.

Your 46 year old might well have had the same outcome if PSA 's were started in his 30's [ a high Gleason score refers to the how aggressive the tumour is likely to be based on its appearance under a microscope]. But outliers don't determine your policy anyway.
Note , if you have symptoms or a genetic predisposition , the test is paid for.
