Thanks Trendtrading, I've thought about that too, so will have a look to see what's involved. That actually happened with an earlier mixer, ... I couldn't work out for a few days why every now and then it would slow a bit, .... and then it stopped completely, .... when the belt finally broke.
.... took the speed controller back to Jaycar, (had paid by cheque), ... now have to wait 3 weeks for refund.

And Jaks, ... you didnt tell us how many HC posters it would take to slow a concrete mixer.
