The main game is August 14th or the next date they extend the committee delivering their recommendations.
Also keep I mind just because a committee recommends something doesn’t mean legislation will pass. In that I know enough about politics to know that a committee set up by a government will likely deliver the government policy. Clearly Cook had in mind to change the dogmas policy when the committee was established. There has been a stall but not necessarily a change in focus. I think he has given the Allianz ( Woodside etc ) an opportunity to be heard and will then deliver the policy they first had in mind.
That said I think ( pure spec ) policy will change both on shore and off shore.
This can only have a positive effect as it can’t be worse than what it is. Nor can they deliver a policy to advantage one company to the exclusion of others.
In my view that will be a catalyst for any merger activity and if it doesn’t happen then we should have a free run to develop out assets.

Don’t write off games being played politically amongst what happens with our stock.
