Big difference.
Implied value per tonne of dirt vs other projects is a relative measure that gives you an approx idea of which project is more likely to be economic at a given point in time. (But then you have to consider depth, free dig vs pre strip cost etc)
resource projects rarely if ever extract the full resource.
my very rough rule of thumb
total resource converts to about 70% measured and indicated
of which about 50% might be economically mineable (mineable reserve)
