“To replace 1.4B passenger cars (est world wide) over the next 50 years requires 56 Million kt of Li Carbonate. Lets take 80% of that say 45 Millions kt. Or each year on average or approx 1M kt PA. The current predicted forward average is something like 300 kt PA YOY so may take more than 50 years to replace all passenger vehicles if they ALL can be replaced. Probably not.”
A simple yet critical error in your calculation/estimation there.
Can’t believe no-one else spotted it…?
In round numbers:
If 50 million tonnes of LCE is required to replace the global fleet….
and if LCE production increases by 300kt per year….
then:
Y1 = 1 Mtpa
Y2 = 1.3 Mtpa
Y3 = 1.6 Mtpa
Y4 = 1.9 Mtpa
Y5 = 2.2 Mtpa
Etc….
Then it will take about 15 years to produce around 50 million tonnes, not 50 years.
