Rio Tinto operates over 60 projects worldwide, with Rincon being one of the smaller ones. AGY, on the other hand, has only two projects, making Tonopah significantly more crucial to its overall trajectory than Rincon is to Rio Tinto’s. I agree with your assessment that Rio Tinto have likely deprioritised Rincon. They are a smart company and can identify when it’s not worthwhile to keep investing heavily in a less profitable project, choosing instead to focus on more lucrative ventures.
Unfortunately, AGY does not have the same flexibility.
