We let you know last month that Kathleen Valley’s hybrid power station came online to provide renewable power to our village and process plant from the solar farm, battery system and three of the five turbines. Today, we’re happy to share that all five turbines are online, so the 95MW hybrid power station is complete.On the weekend, our underground mining operation disconnected from the temporary power and connected to the permanent hybrid power network. This was the final step in interconnecting all major infrastructure across our site to allow us to maximise renewable penetration.Following this, we tested the hybrid power station’s load sharing and renewable energy storage capabilities, reliably powering the process plant, Dragonfly Village and underground mining operation on 100% renewable sources on Sunday and overnight, with the thermal components of the power station switched off (engines off) during this time. We‘re proud to be commissioning our process plant, developing our underground mine and powering our support services on renewable power, and are committed to operating with the lowest possible carbon footprint.
