When a community is united, the system tends to function optimally for all its members. However, divisions within the community can lead to complications. One such contentious topic is immigration, which some argue can potentially exacerbate these divisions. There are numerous instances where the introduction of external elements into a community has altered its social fabric, thereby creating potential rifts. Once you have rifts then you start to see the system fall apart as the people are no longer united behind the orginal system. Its even more an issue when fringe groups are allowed to act in ways that casue more issues with the rest of the orginal population.
There are countless historical cases of such events, in many cases the systems communities collapsed or resulted in wars. It can be applied to many things happening today....
