It would be an interesting case, and disastrous for democracy if an external entity can deprive an elected MP of a free vote. The ALP is entitled to its internal policies. One would hope a court wouldn't allow those internal policies to extend to depriving an MP of exercising their rights as a parlismentarian in the manner they see fit.
