Yeah well they probably got a friendly fund to sell them the shares at a cheap price. The brokers and funds all work together to help each other out of a hole. They do this all the time. I remember years ago with a company called Galaxy Resources how Blackrock did an off-market trade that allowed their "friends" to cover a massive short position (which would otherwise never have been covered without a massive uptick in the price of the shares).
It's strange though that this large X-trade hasn't shown up in the days overall volume
