You seem to have misinterpreted what I was saying.

The point I am making, is that alignment with the US to take advantage of its nuclear umbrella is counterproductive. The US will only retaliate if it is in the US's interests.
Hence , the ''umbrella '' is basically worthless , so pointless paying for it by being the US's catspaw.

I am perfectly willing to accept the notion that the US has at least 74 million ignorant people not half as bright as me.
