These claims may be in Yavapai County, but the topography is totally Maricopa County, less than ten miles south. When you think of Yavapai, you think of its county seat Prescott, Arizona’s mile-high city (elevation 5280 feet). But the Augustus desert, 60 miles to the southwest, is at 2300 feet, with hills below 3500 feet. That’s why it’s so misleading to publish photos of a forest, while exploring a desert.
