....the answer is obvious .....or should be ! Ukraine was dominated by russia for ages .....russian language ws encouraged and official and is widely spoken ....Davydov , Zelensky both russian speakers as first language so not surprising the odd time pre-war there was some use of Kiev
.....but now .....people in Ukraine understandablt tried to avoid anything russian , try to more correct with naming "Kyiv" on maps "Kyiv Post " "Hilton Kyiv' etc
the few that do spell Kiev - on HC or in Ukraine -do so as a means of support for russia
....but you dodged the thrust of my post calling out the perjorative use of the term REGIME for Zelenskys governemnt
