Brexit has failed to achieve what was purportedly its objective according to the Pommy Working Class that voted for it.. IE: Stop the influx of immigrants (taking jobs) and give the Government independence to manage the economy better so that working class poms would be better off.
That didn't happen because:. - Brexit lost some EU trade -Brexit didn't stop the migrants -Covid impacted jobs/wages -The Ukraine war caused inflation negatively impacting workers
Result: change Government ....not a move to the Right. The Poms have been there, done that.
PS: While RW spruikers are lauding the seeming RW move in France, IMO the French working class simply wanted a change of Government per se rather a conscious "step to the Right"
In other words both elections are "better the Devil you don't know than the Devil you know (ie current Government)
