Throw your shoes at them when they go at it or try a water pistol.
A real pistol is a last resort (just kidding)
My mother-in-law had to look after someone’s cat for a week in her home. It wanted to get up on her tables and food prep benches. A few squirts of the water pistol and problem solved.
