Wake the hell up. If the battery goes flat, the sun isn't shining or the wind doesn't blow then there is no power. THAT makes them unreliable. Right now I have a solar hot water system that hasn't got HOT water. Lucky that there is a power back up and it can be relied on because of coal fired power still being available.
