Beville's wasn't a competitor to Michael Hill and is even less of one now that management want to take Michael Hill upmarket – right into the teeth of a consumer spending recession.
I think these guys have some issues, to be honest. That profit warning for Q3 reads through as though they have some serious cost escalation happening somewhere unless GPM has completely cratered because given where they say sales are tracking something has gone wrong on the expense side to drive to a $10m EBIT loss for the quarter. I thought I took an axe to sales and costs and I still only got a group EBIT loss for the half of $18m. So those integration and moving costs must be really stinging.
