I don't see her with her hand out like Andrew Forrest seems to have much of the time. Many may forget that Lang started in the IO business in partnership with Rio. But his ony happened because years earlier he put himself in the location which is not easy or comfortable, operating a cattle station in a harsh environment where many are many who don't make it through a series of droughts, floods, low prices, disease, bans on live exports for capricious reasons.

Ginas biography makes very good reading and tells me a lot about someone who is strong minded and determined but who has qualities of humility and charity. Too many people in this country have the propensity to want to kill gooses that lay golden eggs, to share the plunder with the state which will inevitably waste most of it. If we nurture a flock of geese who lay golden eggs we can have plenty of wealth on a sustainable basis. Her famous family issues seem to centre around the 3rd generation phenomenon where the grandchildren want their eggs without knowing how to replace them.

I admire the way the UAE has encouraged investment and provided opportunities for millions of people from poorer countries to work to build a foundation of security for themselves and their families by spending just 5-10 years working there.

Australia has huge resources, and wealth for toil as our anthem attests.
