My daughter bought an EV last Dec and she and her family came on hols with me during school holidays. The problem is with charging EVs. They had to leave extremely early so that they wouldnt be held up at a charging station in Brisbane. They just visited me and had to borrow my car as their car needed charging. From my observation, charging is definately an issue, adding an extra 30 mins onto a trip at best, and with kids in the car, not ideal. If its your second car, then maybe, but I am not rushing out to buy one.
