The leading so called "gold standard treatments" are known as "PDE5 inhibitors" which come in pill form.

Spontan is not a new drug, it is taking one of these widely used "PDE inhibitor" drugs, Vardenafil, and putting it into a more effective nasal spray form.

Vardenafil is "an existing and approved drug already in global markets since 2003".

Thus all testing and approvals for Vardenafil are relevant to Spontan, which is why approval process can be fast tracked.
