The energy transition will be much more expensive this year than planned!

BILD learned: The costs for green electricity from solar and wind are completely out of control. The 10.6 billion euros in funding (formerly the "EEG levy") planned so far are nowhere near enough. Economics Minister Robert Habeck (54, Green Party) has therefore announced a significant increase in demand.

Specifically, around 8.77 billion euros are needed in additional green electricity subsidies. This is what State Secretary for Finance Florian Toncar (44, FDP) wrote in a letter to the Budget Committee (available to BILD). This is because the 10.6 billion euros previously planned for 2024 have already been almost used up by the middle of the year (9.83 billion euros).

This means that the total costs for promoting green electricity have almost doubled this year to around 19.4 billion euros...

But many manufacturers have guaranteed electricity prices that are much higher (sometimes more than 12 cents per kilowatt hour). The taxpayer must now step in and make up the difference. The 8.77 billion euros are now being added to the previously budgeted 10.6 billion euros...

It is unclear whether the costs will ultimately be covered by money from the KTF climate protection fund - or whether there will have to be a supplementary budget, for example. According to BILD information, the decision on this should be made by autumn at the latest.
