they are quieter

you really expect a satellite or airplane or drone to see a sub snorting?

wow - remember the Chinese ship observed off the WA coast before the last election?

It was tracked for days - then disappeared for ages

now if aircraft, satellites and drones can’t see a bloody big ship when they already knew about it

how it the name of god are they going to see a very quiet sub which they have no idea if it’s here there or anywhere

do you need references (again) that diesel electric subs are quieter?

I am not sure what a chinese ship off the WA coast has got to do with AUKUS, but never mind - perhaps it says something about the weakness in our famous Jindalee "over the horizon" radar system, or maybe our American friends spy satellites were not working that day?
