Mongolia became too large and survived much better and longer than people realise - China owes much of its cultural development to chingis’ grandson, the moguls - beneficiaries, Korea still recognises its ties to the khan Just because they turned back on the verge of conquering Europe ( for family reasons) doesn’t make it a failure. It just faded away, dividing up territories among grandchildren. Many empires spread themselves too thin and successors don’t necessarily have the skills to galvanise, cajole or threaten people in the same way.
but if you look at trump i think that he is highly tribal and succession will be an issue
