I find it an interesting issue to contemplate. I also find it unfathomable at this stage.
As I mentioned I am thinking of 'power/energy' in terms of 1. Access and 2. Cost.
If the 'whales' are building or decide to build their own power stations to ensure access then there will be flow-on implications for (structural, supply chain) costs because of 'behind-the-meter' savings.
Depending on where the other source, the 4DS related source, of savings actually ends up on MrM's spectrum (10-90%) or W's spectrum (1-9%), then the "4DS story" may or may not be a compelling one based on the issue of energy savings alone.
I have no idea what 'x' (savings) equals at the moment.
The other issue tied up in this the marketing of 4DS to the possible suitors (power station building whales) and or the 'smaller than whales' segment (tier 2) clients who just want to incorprorate the '4ds stuff' into their components.
'Whales' could buy 4ds out completely. But if 4DS IP is going to have such a big impact on something as esential as powergirids, why would a government permit a monopoly or even a selective application of the technoology?
All of which further shorts out my brain. Ha!
Then of course, 4DS IP could be important in edge computing because it would enable manufacturers/marketers to have a (non-power related) point of difference over their competitors.
I will contiune to try to come to grips with all of this. Enjoying reading this thread though.
