You are correct that some holders who don’t pay any tax for whatever reason would realise the full benefit of an unfranked div. However, as most holders will be paying tax on an unfranked div, do those non-tax paying holders really want to see such a scheme involving a large amount of their company’s payout going straight into Dr Jim’s coffers rather than reduce debt? I rather hope the very thought would make them puke.
