Have you tried reading the report or doing any research?
Much of the reports 1980s drills etc have either been lost or went unreported.
Anyway,
I'll list a few reasons why such a thing could be missed even in today's modern world.
There is operator error, equipments faulty, equipments not calibrated, lack of funds, lack of availability to get one to the site, time constraints, there was results and they've been lost to time, or could even be there was nothing and still isn't.
