In my experience consolidations are effective providing they are supported by substantial positive news flow thereafter.

I was on SIR when they discovered Nova. They had billions on issue (formally Creosus) prior and had done a consolidation not long before making the discovery.

Their SP would have gone up significantly regardless but the low stick on issue post consolidation really helped the share price go ballistic.

They came out of a trading halt at around 25c. The SP was around 5c when they went into the trading halt. That day they hit around 90c and then went to around $4-$5 during the following months as they drilled out the resource.

A once in a decade stock…

I feel a consolidation would be a good move and now would be the time to do it with hopefully some company making announcements on the horizon.
