I generally agree - the fact they have developed this technology and paid to have it written up into a patent suggests they think it is worthwhile to investigate transportion and logistics issues enough to design a protective packaging method for distance transport.

Hard to see them working on this very much unless they either were confident they would get a working chip - they could have focused their attention entirely on chip production/packaging but chose to put a couple of engineers onto this.
