post taken but we still need to replace closing coal plants with suitable generation.
I've been a strong supporter of renewables for decades; I also opposed nuclear for several decades. around 10 years ago I realised my blanket anxiety about nuclear was dubious and started questioning my beliefs. despite Fukushima, Chernobyl and Long Island, nuclear has been shown to be safer than coal but not as safe as renewables. it therefore a viable means of generation with greater efficiency and productivity, more versatile and more reliable.
"baseload"? I'm certain you know better than I do..... but to my addled little brain there remains a need to fill the impending shortfall and nuclear remains a viable option.
