and this is where it's weird and shows that he's got no idea

his tariff idea - well, one could argue for it for a variety of reasons - and depending on what one believes for a nations economy and economic philosophy - they could be good or they could be bad - it's merely a matter or opinion and belief


however, Trump - after a 3 am call to Flynn (2016/17 from mem), waking the poor guy up - merely to ask ------------ 'is a strong or weak dollar better for the country?-

to which Flynn answered very wisely (even groggy with sleep) Mr President, you would be better off asking an economist -

but, Donny raved on and decided from that night on - and still believes - that the USA is better off with a lower dollar.

Ok - is THAT a good idea? ---------- well, it might be, it might not be. There are pros and cons as usual with pretty much everything to do with economics.

But - let's look at Donny's set and solid beliefs -----

1. He wants HIGH tariffs - 60% Min. on China - up to 100%
and maybe 10% on all imports to the USA - no matter where from

2. He wants a lower dollar

Now - what will the results of point 1 be? ----- almost for sure - highly inflationary.

- And what does inflation running away mean?

- It means - almost certainly - Central Bank intervention - ie. RAISING interest rates

- And what does raising interest rates mean?

- it means an influx of money - buying dollars

- and what does a large buying of dollars mean?

- the dollar rises

and right there - out the window goes - Donny's point 2 (his desire for a lower dollar, because it's good for the country,)

poooooof gone - it seemed like a good idea at the time
